From what I have read and talked to people about there are many different reasons people buy the Savage. Style, price, size, weight, ect. Whatever your reason you bought it it was what you wanted not what someone else wanted. So I say enjoy it the way you want. It's your money to spend on it, make it look like you want it to. If someone wants to bitch about it I say screw them! I really like my Savage and plan to keep on riding it till the wheels fall off (as long as I'm not riding at the time)regardless of what people say about it.
